What personal data we collect and why we collect it


As with most other websites, we collect and use the data contained in the log files using partners like Google Analytics. The data collected includes but is not limited to your IP, browser, date, time, duration of visit, and which pages were visited. This data is analyzed in aggregate and is not shared with any advertiser or third party.

Cookies and Web Beacons

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These cookies will last for one year and created for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

We use third-party advertisements on to support our site. Our partners include Google AdSense, Google Ads, Google Analytics, WordPress, Jetpack, and Mailchimp. Together with our partners, we may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on our website. These cookies and web beacons will send information including but not limited to your IP address, your ISP, the browser you used to visit our site. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes. For example, showing New York real estate ads to someone in New York or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited, such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites.

DoubleClick DART cookies

We also may use DART cookies through Google’s DoubleClick – including some Google AdSense advertisements. This cookie is used to serve ads specific to you and your interests (”interest based targeting”). As a result, the ads served will be targeted based on your previous browsing history. For example, if you have been viewing sites about Las Vegas, you may see Las Vegas hotel advertisements. 

DART does not use personally identifiable information. It does NOT track personal information about you, such as your name, email address, physical address, telephone number, social security numbers, bank account numbers, or credit card numbers.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.



If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

E-mail Subscription

Our e-mail subscription is managed by Mailchimp. This type of service makes it possible to manage a database of email contacts, first names any other contact information that has been provided by the User then subscribing. The intent of capturing this data is to communicate with our audience. Mailchimp may also collect data concerning the date and time when the message was viewed by the User, as well as when the User interacted with it, such as by clicking on links included in the message. Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
